Que la Chine respecte,.., l'esprit des jeux !

L'attitude de la Chine vis à vis du Tibet est tout simplement inacceptable : annexion, destruction et répréssion sanglante depuis plus de 50 ans face à un des peuples des plus pacifique au Monde...Comme la Chine accueille les Jeux, elle doit adhérer à ses valeurs, dont les premières sont humanistes, "pour un Monde meilleur", avant même d'être sportives. On ne peut pas célébrer les jeux en fanfare en réprimant sur son sol un peuple pacifique qui demande juste à être reconnu dans son identité. Ici, Mamoun Eric et Antoine, collaborateurs d'Alter Eco, lundi lors de la manifestation pro-tibet sur le passage de la flamme au Trocadéro. "Liberté au Tibet, Liberté au Tibet,.." on est mobilisés et on le restera, dans l'esprit le plus pacifique mais aussi le plus ferme, pour rappeler à la Chine qu'elle ne pourra pas faire les jeux sans en épouser l'esprit.

I don't support a boycott of the games, the spirit of them is too important and overwhelming to mankind to be crushed by political issues. But I do support the protests as they shine a much-needed light on what's happenings in Tibet and just for ONCE, the Chinese govt cannot control what is seen. It looks like there will be protests all along the torch route, it's the perfect opportunity for protesters (who have legitimate grievances) to draw attention to something which is usually tightly covered-up. China cannot control what happens throughout the world, though I expect the route through Tibet will be protest-free by virtue of a massive police presence. The thing in all of this is that countries such as China, the US, Nigeria and others, need to recognize and accept that nationalism does not give the right to control individual existence. Don't boycott the games, but do support the protests.
